iDeary ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our iOS application handles information when you use it. We built iDeary with a simple principle: your ideas belong to you, and they stay on your device.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
iDeary does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on external servers. We do not operate any servers that receive data from your use of the app. Specifically, we do not collect:
- Your name, email address, or any account credentials
- Your ideas, notes, voice recordings, photos, videos, or drawings
- Your location
- Device identifiers or usage analytics
- Crash reports or diagnostic data beyond what Apple collects through the App Store
2. Data Stored on Your Device
All content you create in iDeary — including idea maps, nodes, connections, text, audio recordings, photos, videos, and sketches — is stored exclusively on your device using Apple's standard file system and UserDefaults APIs. This data is:
- Never transmitted to iDeary or any third party
- Backed up only through your personal iCloud or iTunes backup, which you control entirely via your Apple ID settings
- Permanently deleted when you delete the app from your device
3. Device Permissions
iDeary requests the following iOS permissions only to enable features you actively use. You can revoke any permission at any time in Settings → iDeary on your device.
Microphone
Used solely to record voice memos you attach to idea nodes. Audio files are saved locally on your device and never transmitted.
Camera
Used solely when you choose to capture a photo or video and attach it to an idea. Media is saved locally and never transmitted.
Photo Library
Used solely when you choose to pick an existing photo or video from your library and attach it to an idea. iDeary reads only the files you explicitly select.
4. Third-Party Services
iDeary does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or data-processing SDKs. The only third-party platform involved is Apple's App Store, which may collect certain app-usage statistics under Apple's own privacy policy. We do not control or have access to data Apple collects.
5. Children's Privacy
iDeary is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. Because iDeary collects no information from any user, it is equally suitable for all ages from a data-privacy standpoint. If you have concerns, please contact us.
6. Security
Because iDeary stores all data locally on your device, the security of your ideas is governed by your device's own security features — such as Face ID, Touch ID, and device encryption. We encourage you to keep your device and iOS up to date.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, if changes are material, notify users through an app update. Continued use of iDeary after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
